Closing of a successful anniversary year

On December 6th, 1997, this beautiful windmill complex was officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. We’ve celebrated this extraordinary anniversary throughout 2023 with various events and activities, and now it’s time to close this successful anniversary year.

Free visit

On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, we’re treating our visitors to a special day one more time. All visitor locations, including the boat tour, will be open to the public for free on that day. From 10.30 AM to 4 PM, we invite everyone to our World Heritage site, and just like at the beginning of the anniversary year, we’ll provide a nice treat with your coffee.

Guided Tours

In addition to free admission, on this special day, we are also offering two guided tours to give visitors a deeper insight into the history and culture of Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage. During these tours, a local guide will take you on a journey through time, where you’ll learn about the ingenious techniques used to preserve this unique heritage.

Two guided tours are available:

Tour at 11 a.m. led by an English-speaking guide.
Tour at 1 p.m. led by a Dutch-speaking guide.

Let’s enjoy together the beautiful waters, wind, and determination that have protected Kinderdijk and its surroundings for over 700 years. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, we remain committed to preserving this unique heritage and hope to welcome you at the conclusion of our anniversary year.
