During the Illumination Week, the windmills light up as beacons in the darkness, as we literally put all nineteen of them in the spotlight. It’s a fantastic opportunity for photographers to capture unique shots. However, it’s also well worth it for all other visitors to come and experience the atmosphere because such a magnificent spectacle is not seen or experienced anywhere else in the world. Below is an overview of the activities during the Illumination Week 2024.
Every evening
From Monday to Saturday, every evening offers the opportunity for an enchanting cruise. Let our Hopper and Cruiser take you on a journey past the illuminated windmills, and enjoy the stunning surroundings. After the cruise, you can relax and unwind on our terrace. From Wednesday to Saturday, you can also visit the Nederwaard Museum Mill with your ticket.

Every evening
Every evening, we offer a tasty addition to your experience: a selection of food trucks and a cozy atmosphere on the terrace of the visitor center. From delightful churros to fluffy cotton candy and traditional fries with bitterballen – there’s something for everyone! Come and enjoy the complete experience with light, flavor, and conviviality.
Are you planning to come on Wednesday, September 4th? The local brewery “de Kinderdijkse Kater” will be serving their craft brewed beers.
Do you have a ticket for the boat tour? Show your ticket and get a generous 10% discount on your snacks & drinks. It’s the perfect excuse to order another round and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and company.
Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
Experience the illuminated windmills from the water with a well-filled glass in your hand and friendly people around you. On board the boat, we offer a wide selection of drinks, from refreshing beers and flavorful wines to an assortment of soft drinks. Additionally, delicious snacks are available for you to enjoy, ensuring not only a spectacular view but also a culinary delight.
Saturday
The Illumination Week will conclude with a musical finale around the terrace of the visitor center! Don’t miss this festive closing event, where music, atmosphere, and company come together to wrap up Illumination Week in a special way.
