Nothing beats making a trip to the windmills by water, and the best way to do that is by using the Waterbus. Take your bicycle with you as you hop on board in Rotterdam or Dordrecht, and set sail for Kinderdijk while you enjoy the stunning views of the rivers that made Holland what it is today. This are the travel options:
Line 20 and 21
Anyone traveling from Rotterdam or Dordrecht to Kinderdijk by Waterbus has a few options:
Directly to Kinderdijk
From Rotterdam it is possible to take Line 21 to sail directly to Kinderdijk from the Erasmus Bridge. With this route you will be at the entrance of the World Heritage Site in just over half an hour.
Transfer Ridderkerk
With Line 20 from Rotterdam or Dordrecht, change at the Schans stop in Ridderkerk to the ‘Driehoeksveer‘. From there you are in Kinderdijk within a few minutes. Please note: the ‘Driehoeksveer’ is not part of the Waterbus, you will need to buy a separate ticket here.
Stop at Kade Alblasserdam
Only if you bring a bike with you, disembarking at the stop Kade in Alblasserdam (Line 20) is an option. From there it is a fifteen minute bike ride to the entrance of the windmill area.
For those traveling to Kinderdijk by Waterbus we also offer a combination ticket. This ticket offers a unique and relaxed way to reach the World Heritage Site, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful landscape along the route. By choosing this option, you receive an attractive combination discount. This combo ticket can be easily ordered along with your entrance tickets at: www.kinderdijk.com/tickets.
