A15 roadworks

Between July 12th and October 28th, the asphalt on the A15 highway between Ridderkerk and Deil will be renewed. During this period, the highway will be closed for four weeks and three weekends, each time in one direction.

Public Transport

To avoid the highway closures, consider using public transport. If you are coming from Rotterdam or Dordrecht, consider taking the routes with the Waterbus. The Waterbus provides a comfortable and fast connection between these cities and Kinderdijk. For current schedules and boarding points, please visit the Waterbus website. Check the image below to see how you can plan your trip with the Waterbus.

Additionally, there are bus lines available that can take you to Kinderdijk. Plan your journey in advance using the public transport planner to find the best route.

Traveling by car

Are you traveling to Kinderdijk via the A15? Please be aware of traffic disruptions and allow extra travel time due to roadworks. For the most current planning and diversion routes, you can visit the Rijkswaterstaat website. There, you will find detailed information about the works, expected delays, and alternative routes to ensure your journey runs as smoothly as possible.

Visitors to the World Heritage site park their cars at Marineweg in Alblasserdam. From there, there are various options to continue the journey to Kinderdijk. Thanks to a contribution from Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar, we are also able to offer motorists the Park & Sail option from August 17 to 25 for a comfortable and traffic-free crossing from Alblasserdam to Kinderdijk by boat. For more information about this option, click here.

Below, you will find a picture outlining the traffic disruptions and Rijkswaterstaat’s schedule.
